Sydney Swans win AFL Grand Final


The Sydney Swans won the Afl Grand Final by 4 points over the West Coast Eagles in front of 91,000 fans at the MCG in Melbourne.

It was the closest grand final since 1977 and a truly hard fought battle all day. It was the Swans first Grandfinal win for 72 years and the last win came when they where based in Melbourne and called the South Melbourne Swans.

All Australian Full back Leo Barry held onto one of the great pressure marks in the dying seconds of the game when west coast surged forward for one last effort to kick a goal and win.

West Coast Eagle Chris Judd won the Norm Smith Medal for best player in the Grandfinal only 3 players from a losing team had previously won the medal.
