The Hills are alive

Usually from my front door steps you have a good view of the great dividing mountain range that runs up the east coast of australia. The last few days all that can be seen is smoke as the hills surrounding our town are alight with Bush fires. So far no towns have been burnt down but this fire is what they are calling a supa fire and by the weekend could be spread over 600,000 hectre's. A combination of very dry weather and lightening strikes started the fires last Friday. Its approaching the town of Briagalong which is 22 kilometers away from Maffra ( where i live) and all towns surrounding it have been placed on alert for the weekkend where we are expecting temperatures in the high 30's and strong northerly winds which will blow the fire this way.
